Waiting game

As many of you already know, the amnio fluid test came back to show that babies' lung development is slightly immature as of 6/20 @ 35w6d. So we canceled the 6/21 c-sec.

Today 6/22, I had OB app. HB monitoring shows that babies are still doing really good in me. Dr set a new birthday for the girls, which is going to be 6/29, @ 37w1d. He only wanted 5 days or so but the hospital had no slots for scheduled c-sec. The earliest he could get was the 29th. Between now and then, anything can happen. The dr is not on-call this week but If I have an emergency, he ok'd the hospital to contact him to deliver my babies. That was really nice of him! I was afraid if I have to go in this weekend, someone else is gonna cut me up.
The downside is that c-sec is AGAIN, scheduled at 5:30pm. I was hoping the morning slot, but nothing was available.

So far, I've gained 35lb. I am thinking 1 more lb by next week. One of the babies is really really low that I feel lots of pressure down there. I have a slight rib pain but not bad at all. The feet and legs are mildly swollen. I can say that all the side effects from this pregnancy has been pretty much at an expected level.

Two more HB monitoring app next week. So unless it's emergency, 6/29 will be the big day!

A day before C-sec, 36 weeks

Yesterday was the last OB appointment before scheduled C-sec. We did the Amnio fluid test to check the lung development. The Dr takes the fluid and tests the bi-products in it. From it, he can tell how lung is properly functioning or not. The dr finds the deepest pocket of fluid via ultrasound, then numb the area of skin where the needle goes in. The needle was like 3 inch long. I felt the ting where the needle hit the skin and went deeper into my uterus. I saw the fluid!, which babies live in. I felt one step closer to them.
After the procedure, we did HB monitoring to make sure the babies are well.

After my husband and I came home, we did our own version of photo shoot in our backyard. Just to show off to ourselves later how big my tummy has gotten. It is a miracle to be able to have pregnant tummy curve. Despite the fact that the last few weeks of the 3rd Trimester was harder than I ever imagined, this pregnancy was something I had dreamt of for so long. It makes it extra special especially after we went through infertility for a long time.

Last night, my husband put together 2 swings and a play pin/bassinet. I final checked the travel bag I am taking to hospital. I have lots of diapers ready. Overall, I *think* I am ready to welcome these babies!!

34 weeks

6/7   34w1d OB app
HB monitoring went well.
Weight gain : 4lbs in 2 days! So I weigh 132lb now.
Prescribed Iron pills for next 2 weeks
C-sec Date: 6/21.
Fluid level is still good.
Cervix is still closed.

6/11 34w4d OB app
HB monitoring went well. Both babies are doing good. Their nervous system has started to show the certain pattern, which tells doctor good sign of the development. 6/20, a day before c-sec, Dr will do amnio test to check lung development.
Surprisingly, I weigh the same today 132lb. Mmm. Also Cervix has thinned out by 50%, but still closed. Dr said I am doing great that I made it this far.

I lay on the couch all day, napping, reading, surfing web, watching TV and movies. I only wear regular clothes when I go OB. Other than that I am in pajama everyday. I forgot how I look when I have make-up on. I don't know how long my hair now since I ponytail it everyday. I have an occasional backache from sitting same position too long on the couch and when I sleep on my right. Baby B is straight up on my right so I feel her weight and affects certain spot of my back. Contractions are still random, so not much of the worry there.
Babies are moving a lot. Sometimes I feel kicks, but now I feel more their entire body movement and body parts moving across my uterus in their sack. The hiccups are quite often. I can distinguish baby A's from B's. At ultrasound, I can see them practicing breathing. Their lungs are filled with fluid now but they will be replaced with air when they are born. So amazing.
I feel beyond heavy now. Standing still more than 1 minute is hard. I have to walk with my hands supporting the tummy. All fingers are swollen. The both wrists hurt from carpal tunnel. Surprisingly I have no stretch marks so far, thanks to tummy wax.

I have 9 more days to go.

33 weeks

32w5d.. U/S and HB monitoring.

My weight gain in last two weeks is 1.5lb, which come out to be all babies. My total pregnancy weight gain is now 126.5lb.

Baby A now weighs 3lb10oz and Baby B is 4lb 1oz.
If you remember, Baby A is the one who's tummy is developing 6% growth when it should be 10% growth range. In another words, her tummy is measuring behind at 28-29 weeks. However, upon HB monitoring, she showed the stronger heartbeat, which means nervous system between brain and heart is very good. Baby B is heavier one, and her growth is up to date. But she was a little sluggish at the HB monitoring. Overall, the day went ok. Based on today's result, Dr now wants to see me twice a week to keep a closer eye on the twins. weight gain 1.2 lb in last weeks Total 126.5lb

Baby A is always the only one who can give us the good snapshot!
Baby A
33w1d. HB monitoring.

Baby B was so cooperative today.
Baby A was I think sleepy head? Dr had to use a little devise on my tummy to make a noise and wake her up. After a little while, she showed the satisfying HB.

33w4d HB monitoring.

Both babies showed very good heartbeat! We finished the session really quickly! I now weigh 128lb, hoping this gain is all babies.

Dr and I discussed the delivery option. We agreed for C-sec. Mainly because baby B is still head up. So turning the baby to head down during the vaginal birth can be traumatic. Also he is not sure if my pelvic bone is wide enough for safe delivery. My mind has been set on C-sec for a long time for safer delivery anyways. And we both agreed on the goal being 36weeks. Different from singleton pregnancy, for twins, after 36weeks, it can cause potential danger to babies. (too crowed a uterus, heartbeat deceleration etc)
Dr did say that he first had doubt if I could come this far along,,for this being the first time pregnancy, twins, and me being really petite person to begin with. 100lb 5ft person.

I have sleepless nights. My backache is getting worse. For the first time, I had to wake my husband up to massage my back. I never had such a body pain before in my life other than muscle ache from workout at gym. But my babies seem so comfy in me so far. So that's good thing! I have 2 more weeks to go!!!
